NooB Perf Mod Ques
I just bought my first vette...2000 couple only 18k miles (driven by a older female school teacher!) LOVE IT
I'd like to do some basic performance mods, but need your expert advice!
I've read some posts and have some ques/concerns.
1.) I don't think a vararam would be good for 2 reasons...excessive intake of dust and potential water.
2.) Do the intake mod's require a new mass air flow sensor
3.) Do non-ramair intakes offer similar performance?
4.) How much of a concern is dust bypassing these hi-flo filters?
5.) What is this "re-programming" I read about? And who does it?
Thank you!

2. No, honestly not much point in ever changing your MAF unless it goes bad.
3. No
4. None, they work great
5. Tuning, usually done by "Tuners" in your area, generally on a dyno but can be done on the street as well, you wont need this till you get a few mods.

Filters are for the dust, and you wont hydrolock unless you go in 2 foot deep puddles. It will be fine in heavy rain/downpours
2.) Do the intake mod's require a new mass air flow sensor
No
3.) Do non-ramair intakes offer similar performance?
Vararam is in a class of its own, but all aftermarket intakes provide some mild increase.
4.) How much of a concern is dust bypassing these hi-flo filters?
Its all about compromise, high flow means less filtering. Personally I'd rather have a better filtering element. I think the performance difference is negligible.
5.) What is this "re-programming" I read about? And who does it?
You can disconnect the battery for 15 min, reconnect, then drive as normal to let the computer adjust. Or do nothing, the computer will adjust eventually anyway
Thank you!
