Default service column lock

what a load of crap.
I have a 2001 Z06, my column lock recall was done 3/15/2006. The new harness K was installed and the car had 9800 miles on it. Well it failed at 10800. To bad it was 15 months later, NOT COVERED, 1000 miles on a freakin gm part and it crapped out. No wander I never bought gm, till now. Ended up costing me 375 bucks, with no help from gm's customer service, what a joke that is. Anyway, anyone know how to test this harness K part. I asked for the old one, and I'm just curious.
Sorry I'm just venting and I'm a newbie here.
Thanks,

Remove it and install the CLB, any recall that GM does concerning this simply does not work. Huge sticky at the top but too much to read.

Call ZIP Products ( in Forum Member listings) ...click on it and go there for their free call #...they will ship you a CLB for 50 bucks...have someone that knows how, put it in, and your problem will be over.

Thanks,
Sounds like the dealer charged for parts that did not have to be replaced. The Harness K kit costs less than $100. Did the dealer also sell you a new actuator?

The recall is a safety item.. If it failed in only 1,000 miles, I would press the dealer to replace it, even if the car is not under warranty. The car should not have to be under warranty to perform the recall.

You should call GM corporate. A guy I work with had the same thing happen on his '98 about a month ago. In fact, all he asked for was a replacement K harness and he would put it in himself. Even though his family had bought several corvettes from this dealership over the years, they still were going to make him pay for it. He went home and called GM Corporate and when the dust settled, the dealership ended up sending a mechanic to his house to replace it, free of charge. He is "98 C-5" on here if you want to PM him.

Yea Im with Texhawko. Sounds like they soaked you for an actuator, when alls you really needed was a new k-harness. Which should have been replaced for free. You have one of the early k-harnesses wich were notorious for taking a crap early. On the newer version they have changed the relay in it and there have been very few problems. Id get a hold of gm corp and get them to reimburse you for the work they charged you for....

Default another screwing

man, what a load of crap!!@!

Car just crapped out again two weeks with new harness K.
I cant wait till monday to talk to the dealer.,. Just bought the bypass, will get it thursday.
that harness K is a joke. I got the old one and tested next to the new one, they both test out the same.
If indeed this bypass fixes this problem, Im going up to the dealer and put a knot on that service mans forehead.
They hit me up for 375 bucks for nothing, broke again in two weeks.
I ordered this bypass from a doctor don.
I spoke with him personally, he sounds like hes got his **** together about these column problems, why they fail and so on. Any one know of him, he out of huntsville, TX. $40 for the part.
Well I got my fingers crossed, so I can DRIVE to the dealer and start a war. LOL
Cant wait.
