Plan on my first trip to open night drags on Tuesday night. Interested to see what other member's C5 H/C cars are doing and what to expect in high humidity weather. I have 4.10 gears, plan to set the gscs in the rear with the Fickses instead of the runflats. what should be my goal...first time running.
Thanks.
It would help for you to describe the set up of the car, its power level, the size of the rear tires you'll be running, and something about your previous track experience.
If you're 400-425 rwhp, on street tires, making your first passes at the drag strip, then a reasonable set of goals for a summer day includes:
(1) no wall incidents
(2) no missed shifts
(3) one pass under 12.40
There are a few links in my signature that may help.
Be sure to make your passes in Competitive Driving mode.
I have the H/C from Dynotech, 411rwhp/390tq, with 4.10 gears. I have the factory wheels and run flats that I plan to replace with my Fickse wheels (17") that came off a 88' callaway with GSCs for this week. I have on order the Cray scorpions, with the BFG 18x9-19x10.5 295 in the rear, until then my setup will have to do. Not to insult your post, but I have been to two driving schools for the track and have had multiple runs on the 1/4 mile in my Jeep srt-8 with bolt on mods @13.025 for the first run in March. I know the vette will defiantely run better, but have never ran my princess. I wanted a goal to reach, even in the hot humid weather.
Thanks..

Don't break any thing.
Develop a set of your own rules and live by them.
My rule number one, if the car starts to get sideways, get off the gas ASAP and no brakes, it will straighten out, don't try to drive through it or salvage the run. Not worth it.

Best of luck.

I hear ya. First rule, I plan to get home the same way I got there. I have ran my truck enough times to get comfortable at the track. But still, I am interested in the times that members have acheived in the 1/4 mile with a similar setup to mine. I am not goal setting to beat them, but a realistic average run in the midwest summers would be appreciated. Like I said I am not a newbie at the track, I have had my car since 2003 and I am just wondering who I am saving the fun for.
Thanks.
I’m putting down a little more power (440) with my H/C setup. I run 11.80@ 124 on the runflats. In hot weather I run the same time.
It’s definitely a chore to get the car down the track on the runflats. I’ve managed to get the 60’ into the low 1.90’s pretty consistently, but then I’m fighting for traction through 2nd and 3rd gears. Basically I have no traction and can’t get on the throttle hard until I shift into 4th at about 660’. Hopefully your GSC’s will hook a little better.
Good luck and be careful it’s probably going to be a hand full!
