Ok, Installed 3.90, my speedometer has not changed???
My speedometer is excatly the same as when I had 3.42, no change. I know I need to change the gear ratio with tuners, but my speedo should be off a little, right?
Also, I have not really laid into the pedal, I am breaking the gears in, but it does not seem like I have 3.90, still feels like I have 3.42???
If you can't tell a difference between 3.42s and 3.90s, something is up. Wait until you are finished with the break-in before passing judgement. You will notice.
Since the reading is taken from a wheel speed sensor, the only thing that will affect the speedometer reading is tire size. A gear change won't do it.
No tuning is required for a gear change on M6 cars.
A4 cars need it to adjust shift points and prevent from over-revving, that's it, nothing to do with the speedometer.

you made a 14% ratio change. It won't be a day/night difference... but it will be noticeable. Let the gears break in first... then do a couple 1/4 mile runs.

I went with 4.10's and I notice a big difference...
Hows 6th gear for you?.....same as it was or some more ooomph to it?
with my 4.10's 6th gear is now usable and acceleration off of the line is noticably better...LOVE them....had them put in by Chuck at Corvettes of Westchester.....

I just read about no need for a speedo change on your website. Last time I did gears on a car was on my 2000 Camaro. So I was pretty shocked when the speedo was the same.
That being said, I hope once the gears are broken in, I will notice a big difference. That is a pretty big jump...3.42 to 3.90, I would assume.
i have bolt ons on my 99 frc i did 3.90's and i love em every gear is where it should have been from the factory. wait till the break in point is over then row through 1-3 you will notice

I bought the car used, I just hope I did not have 3.90's in there already.
The reason I asked if it was a six speed is you can go to the DTE web site and look at the approximate RPM in each gear. From that you should be able to tell your gear ratio. Also, when I broke mine in I had a hard time too distinguishing the new gears but when driving in 4th I did notice more exhaust noise because the motor was turning faster. Once broken in and you can get on it a bit more, the gear are now much more noticable

Fbody's do require a tune for gear changes, Ybody's do not obviously.
Enjoy those 3.90's!
