It's me again.:seeya: I write you because I'm looking for some answers.Where else better to ask...?
If you remember my story I had a problem with the Superchips programming hitting the rev limiter when engaging WOT.
This is AFTER I installed a set of Getrag/GM 3.42's and Pro Torque 2400 converter. The gears seemfine...no problems at all.
I returned the Microtuner and just Friday installed my new Powerloader II. No more hitting the rev limiter,in fact the 3-4 shift
is right on the money ,hard and sure at 6200 rpm.Rev limiter was set at 6500 be Steve Cole.I now have a new problem.
The PLII is a more refined program,I admit and Steve Cole does know his stuff, but his programming may have created a
new and different problem.I'm really not sure it's a programming problem at all. My 1-2 shift is strong and firm, but my 2-3 shift
has a definate stutter then high rev and by default automatically goes into the 3-4 shift. The cars program will not allow the car to shift as it should. It's like the transmission is slipping. It's not. I don't recall what the speed was.I know Steve programs to speed not rpm.
I spoke with Steve Cole ,at some length I might add, About 1 hour Friday. He is genuinely concerned and is going to make every concerted effort to fix the problem. He says he needs some data first to cure my ills.
We think the converter is just not shifting because the line pressure is not correct and the higher the rpm the more
pressure required to engage the PT 2400.Also Steve feels that it may be something to do with the solenoid shift pattern.
It only happens at 1/2 throttle to full throttle, never at cruising up to 50 mph. Steve believes the program impulse is
just not getting to the converter. The car runs great up to 50 mph in all situations and shift patterns.
On Steve's suggestion I am having a master Chevy corvette tech analyze the problem with a tech 2 , a kind of autotap scanner to try to isolate the problem. He will take a "snapshot" of the shift and see what is going on inside during the shift. We will feed the info to Steve and let him any adjustments necessary to engage the shift.Makes sense ,but this whole ordeal is really a bummer. :nonod:
If you don't mind,I would like to reference any of you that may have a similiar set up on your cars to Steve for comparison and see if there are any differences in the shift programming that may give us some help.
That's assuming your car is shifting as the program is supposed to run. 1-2, 2-3, 3-4...sure and firm for each shift!
The last time I was at the track(10/14) I pulled a 12.78 and that was the Superchips program and of course the 3-4
shift was not there at that time . I just slipped through the traps in I don't know what gear. Real sloppy!
I know the car has more. I was expecting 12.4-12.6 and I still believe that. The engine is strong and every one that has driven the car or driven with me acknowledges that. It's a shame...really.
Sorry to vent , I didn't mean to dump all this on you all.I'm just really frustrated. I started this mod in April and I
just believe that there IS an answer to this.I can't understand why I having these problems. Your help is very welcome.
Any reference and experience you can provide will most welcome.Maybe C4C5 Specialist or C5 tech could lend a hand here...please.
Do any of you feel it's a computer problem or perhaps a mechanical failure of the converter?
I am having similar problems. However, mine seems primarily due to a blown tranny  . I talked to Steve and he was going to bring down my shift points a little bit because I have a super aggressive converter with my 3.42's. You should atap the car and look at TCC slip speed fist and then look at those shift imes. I think I lost the TCC solenoid and then the 3 was gone and probably my 3-4 clutch slipped into death. If you are low on fluid that could cause more slipping.
I am sure if it is the programming Steve will be able to work it out just fine. I am sending Steve a file of my shifts so after he gets back from the SEMA show he can adjust it.
I'm having the exact same problem. I sent my PL back to Steve for re-proramming and just got it back last Thursday, but the problem is still there. I understand your pain...I'm really frustrated with this problem. I'm having my tranny fluid checked on Monday, and will then Auto Tap the car and contact Steve when he gets back from SEMA. Hopefully, we can figure out what the heck is going on. According to Steve, my 2-3 shift should occur at ~80 mph, but actually occurs at ~94 mph at 6500 rpm, bangin off the rev limiter.
Did you make sure the PCM was back to a fully stock situation before loading Steve's PL II code? He bases his changes on stock code and if some of the other codes you had used remained in the PCM it could cause an error.
Everyone: I just took a ride in Vince's car today, the thing pulls strong, but there is a "shutter" in the 2-3 shift that can easily be felt when riding in the car.
Car sounds great Vince, I may have to get rid of my cats soon. ;)
I just loaded my PL today. I took it out for a short run and at non WOT speeds everything is fine. At WOT the 1-2 shift is stronger than before; I like that! I think 2-3 is Ok but I need to play with it more - at WOT I can't do 2-3 just anywhere. I will be paying very close attention. Everything else is pretty much like before (thus far). I was hoping it would downshift with a little throttle like I have heard about but not really (not yet, anyway).
Anyway, it is too early to draw any conclusions. I will drive it and report back any anomolies that may arise.
Also note that my prior programming was from WCC (not stock) and there is no problems loverlaying the PL program
Re: Powerloader Installed ,T/C problems...Help! (Mean Green 2000)
did you check the tranny fluid and autotap the car yet?
I'll be getting the tranny fluid checked this afternoon, and hopefully auto-tapping it later tonight. I'll keep everyone posted to anything I find. Most of my mods are on-hold until I can figure this problem out
Re: Powerloader Installed ,T/C problems...Help! (Mean Green 2000)

Well, just got the tranny fluid checked. The tech added 1/2 qt of fluid, and even that was too much so I guess the tranny fluid was not the problem.
I'll be auto-tapping it soon enough...I'll post any findings :seeya
Jim (Intel55) and I Auto-tapped the car tonight. Seems like it's shifting a bit too soon now. It shifts at 5900 rpm. The work around is to shift it manually, and get optimal shifts at 6200-6300 rpm, which is easily do-able. I did get the trans. fluid topped off today though...it was only 1/2 qt, but I guess it made a BIG difference. Now, I'll contact Steve when he gets back from SEMA and see what he thinks about all this.
On a prlim look at your results you are going fom 1-2 @43 5600rpm and 2-3@83 5650 rpm. A lil early could increase that. Will get the results to ya. I have no idea why I am posting this here..ahahhah I will get that 1000 and my % back up damit  ahhaha :seeya :flag   :reddevil
Has anyone had the issues with their powerloader cleared up?
Loaded mine a few days ago and also having some problems. Car shudders like vstellas during the 2-3 shift. 1st gear seems to be non-existant unless I pull it down manually. It starts in second from a stop even at WOT and will not automatically shift to 1st at anytime. Car feels like it's "freewheeling" when I get off the gas. Not downshifting like I've belive it should. I've got a call into Steve, but I know with the show last week and another one next week he will be very busy. If anyone has any new info on this topic, please share. Thanks
Superchips? Been there ,done that .....NO THANKS :nonod:
Still waiting for Steve to return my call. I will have the TECH II "snapshot" Saturday and fax it to Steve Monday.I'm having a set of TPIS LT's installed and while it's on the lift we are going to check the fluid and all connections. I'm really stymied by this "shutter slip" in 2-3 shift. The car runs like a absolute beast ....except the 2-3 shift.I don't understand
