I have an Actron CP9145 unit I purchased from AutoZone about a few months ago. I no that I can read the OBD II port with it, but what other functions will I be able to do with it. Also this may sound like a stupi question, but where exactly is the port on my C5 that I just purchased this past weekend. I did a search and did not come up with an answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The code reader you bought will basically let you pull up the codes, see what they are and what is causing them to pop up, and erase them.

The port is right underneath the steering column right after the plastic knee guard, dead center.

Don't bother with the AutoZone purchased unit ... for two reasons ...

1) It can only read codes from the PCM ... codes from other computers in the car such as the BCM cannot be read by the unit.

2) The C5 Corvette will show you ALL codes from ALL of the computers in the car right on the DIC. No scanner needed .... if you want to know how to do this see:

Default codes

I too obtained a "professional scanner" and tried to read codes. READS NOTHING. Can get vette codes by turning on ignition holding options button on DIC and quickly hitting the fuel button 4 times. After the codes are displayed automatically you get into Manual Diagnoistics and can scroll thru codes using DIC buttons and erase them with the reset key. Looks like most of the low priced scanners read ONLY EMISSIONS CODES if that. BIGHANK
