Default Question - Battery terminal

I have an 02 Z06 and was wondering if there should be a round red cover that snaps over the positive battery post. All my other GM vehicles have one, just wondering if the Vette should have one as well. Thanks

Bob

It is safe to cover the positive battery post if you have the red optima ( preveting the accidently drop any metal object on top of battery, worst case , you necklage you wear when you work on your vette.)IMHO.

Thanks, but I have the regular side post battery with no top posts and the cover in question is one that would be tethered to the positive cable.

My 02 Z06 didn't have the + post cover either. I've tried to just pick one up at Autozone and the like with no luck. I ended up just wrapping electrical tape around it. Not pretty but it suffices to pass tech inspection for track days. Since the battery is isolated in its cove and the surroundings are plastic I guess it's better than if it was just in an open engine bay like most cars.
