I know this doesnt help you after the fact, but I have found that any time something like this happens, you are always best to have the other party sign a written statement of events showing the circumstances leading up to the crash. I had a sanding truck take out my windshield once, and got him to sign a full 'confession', which I took to the County, and guess what, they paid. They have never paid for one before, so I was real glad I did that. I now carry pen and paper and a camera at all times. Which reminds me, I should put that in the bike saddlebags.
I am a 26 year firefighter and more recently first responder, and I have seen so many accidents where victims were helped from the same pen and paper.
If that fails, stand on the guys throat until the LEO shows up and he gives the whole story. LOL

That's a good idea...except I know that I would never sign anything presented to me by another involved party, so I think it'd be tough to get someone else to. But you never know.
Just curious who your insurance company is? I have not had any accidents in my current vette but a previous incident a few years was covered by my insurance company where I picked the vender (Scott's Auto Coach) of my choice (as most work directly with most insurance co's).
Sorry to hear about your misfortune but if its any consolation I had a similar incident happen to me this month the only difference being that my '04 got spun around 180 degrees and the large cement curb stopped it. I've got the high polished aluminum wheels and the drivers side rear didn't break like yours but it sure got a big old dent in it. I was lucky as well, (the son of a b_ _ _ _h didn't stop either. Was able to drive it home. Ended up replacing the rim, in the process discovered the rear spline was bent...replaced that as well. The car seems okay getting a little noise out of the back but that could just be the run flats. I'm so **** that I'm probably imagining it anyway. But no codes no leaks everything looks okay. Hope yours works out as well.
I've had my car back for a little over a week now. It looks great, but I too am getting a noise/vibration from the right rear (where it collided with the wall). It is very noticeable at speed...not a clicking or popping, just a vibration that I can feel in my pedals and seat.
The shop didn't end up replacing any suspension or drivetrain components, saying that all looked good. How did you notice a bent spline? Are you talking about the spindle/hub? Tomorrow I am going to pull off the wheel, caliper, and rotor to have a closer look.
better make it "someone's fault" or if not your insurance will jack up. THere is always fault unless its a deer that jumps out or a jet engine falls off at 25,000 feet and hits you.
No phantom car in teh report = your fault for insurance = rate jack.

Rocco,
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you I was away on vacation. Yes you're right I meant to say spindle. I actually didn't notice it, I jus thought the rim was bent and the alignment way out. When the shop put it up on the lift...they noticed it right away. They compared the spacing of the spindle on the right side to that of the left. The right side (undamaged) I could barely get the tip of your finger in...The left side (damaged) I could fit the whole tip of my index finger in. After purchasing the new one and comparing it to the old you could see it was bent. I know this is a little late but we didn't pull the wheels off, just put it up on a lift and were able to see the difference. I'm going to be taking it down to Corvette Masters and have them have a look at it as soon as I get some time. I'll post their findings here and let you know. I will say this though...if the spline was bent and they did the alignment anyway...the wheel would be cocked...and you'd notice it just by looking at it from the rear of the car.
