Yesterday I was watching one of the gearhead shows. I forget the name of the show but the two main mechanics are guys in their 50's. I'm sure you know which show I'm referring to.
Anyway, they dyno'd a stock 2000 A4 and it put out 265 rwhp.
They put on a K&N filter and it picked up 20 rwhp.
They added a Superchip program and it picked up another 10 rwhp.
My question is, is 265 rwhp is the ball park of a stock A4 C5?
Have other dyno numbers I've seen here been inflated (not intentionally)?

Yeah, it was on Crank and Chrome. Whats even worse was having my friend call me as soon as they showed the stock HP figures and start on me because his '00 lightning puts out 330hp at teh rear wheels :mad
One thing to remember is that it was an auto though, slightly lower at the wheels than the M6, but still... frustrating.
Dont forget that the K&N company are big time sponsers for them. its in thier bennefit to fudge the stock numbers to make the overall result look good.
I don't know if they dyno'd in the wrong gear or put the wrong gear ratio in the dyno computer, but they're numbers were way low. The lowest I've ever seen a stock auto dyno was 280 rwhp, which = ~ 350 HP at the engine.
I was wondering about thoes numbers as well? They sure did make that K&N look good though. I wonder how many units were sold as a direct result of that show?
That could be right if the car has the 4-cat setup. My 2000 4-cat 6-speed made 285 before removing them, so I imaging a slightly "weak" auto could be that low.
