Default Aftermarket Alarm

I purchased a 97 C5 that has an aftermarket Viper alarm and have seem to run into problems after my keyfob stopped working. The ac and heater digital does not have any indication on it (no A/C in ARIZONA). I was getting a bad throttle postion sensor on the DIC. The dealership replaced it and still having check engine light they can not find any other problems. I have heard aftermarket alarms are CRAP. Is this true and so, how can I remove it?

PLEASE help seriously thinking about selling corvette.

the viper alarms are pretty much tops for aftermarket alarms. I am a dealer ans installer for these alarms...nothing but good luck with Viper. Must be install related/wiring problems.

I bought my '99 earlier this year, and it too had a Viper alarm already installed. It was very irritating to have the doors lock every time you shut them (even if the key is still in the ignition). I finally found a small toggle switch under the dash, that turns the Viper OFF. You should have a red LED on your steering column. With the switch turned OFF, the red LED will be lit. Now I normally leave the alarm off, but turn it on when I park in public places.

the button you are pushing is known as the valet switch, which disengages a few of the security features. It should re-engage after key is removed...if installed correctly.

Since are problems with your ac and elctronics, I would say you have something connected to where it should not be. If you need wiring charts for an alarm system for the car, let me know. I can pull up most accessory wiring charts.

That would be great if you could give information on how to remove the alarm all together and I could later take it to the dealership and have them install a low jack system in it. I really miss driving it and want to get it in the great condition I received it. It just not seem to be the same car as it was when I fell in love with it.
PLEASE HELP

Notes: The factory alarm may trigger when using the aftermarket system because there is a sensing circuit on the parking lights. In these cases use the turn signals for flashing light. The LF turn signal is lt. blue, RF is dk. blue, LR is yellow, and RR is dk. green. There are all positive at the steering column. Use all four and use 6 amp diodes to isolate each.
Parking Lights-
Hazards
Turn Signal(L)
Turn Signal(R)
Door Trigger gry/blk, blk/wht - BCM
Notes: The gray/black catches the drivers door. The black/white catches the passenger door. Use both wires and diode isolate each.

The BCM is located in the passenger footwell under the carpet.
Dome Supervision
Trunk/Hatch Pin red/black - BCM
Notes: The BCM is located in the passenger footwell under the carpet.
Hood Pin pink/black - BCM
Notes: The BCM is located in the passenger footwell under the carpet.
Trunk/Hatch Release lt. blue - BCM
Notes: The BCM is located in the passenger footwell under the carpet.
Power Sliding Door
Factory Alarm Arm arms with lock
Factory Alarm Disarm lt. green - in driver door
Disarm No Unlock
Tachometer white AC PCM
Notes: The PCM is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Remove the right front tire and remove the access panel in the inner fender to access the PCM. Tach wire is located in the blue connector pin #35.
Horn Trigger black - BCM
Notes: The BCM is located in the passenger footwell under the carpet.

this is the wiring setup for install so removal is similar, just opposite. Reconnect any broken wires using appropriate sized connectors.
