Default parasitic battery drain

My optima red top is not holding a charge. Before I pulled it out to take it back to Advance Auto I check the parasitic drain on it. I had .20 A or 200mA draw. Is this considered normal?

do you have any aftermarket elctronics in your car? If not check for corrosion on the cables beneath the battery tray.

Another place that is a trouble spot is the driver's side electric seat switch--they go bad quite often and stay on all the time---mine went bad--I just set the seat where i wanted it and unplugged the pigtail under the bottom- battery stayed up--

Had the same problem with my Red Top. Had to keep a trickle charger on it until the other day when it went completely dead. As soon as I put the big charger on, I hear the driver power seat motor whirling and figured the switch was bad. As mentioned above, you can unplug it or as I did, open the fuse box cover under the passenger side floor panel and pull the fuse. I suspect water gets on the switches from opening the door in the rain and eventually causes the problem.

Your BCM sleep current draw should be very close to 0.020 A. NOT 0.200: It will take about 3-5 mins for the BCM to go into sleep mode once you connect the amp meter to the circuit. Make sure everything is off, shut or disconnected. I.E. doors, trunk, hood light off, radar detector unplugged ect....

thanks, the .20 A was after about 30 seconds. I took the battery in today and it tested bad. I will put the new one in and recheck the load after 5 minutes or so. Thanks everybody.
