Default Replacing soft top on 1999 C5

I have a 99 convertible, the top is in bad shape so brought a new one at the corvette shop. Does anyone have any tips on the removal of the old one & install of the new one?

From what I have read, take it to a professional, it's not an easy job.

I think this depends on your skill level and attention to detail. I recently replaced the top on a Honda S2000. I was told the same thing. Very difficult, use a pro, etc... I took everything apart, putting the parts in marked plastic bags and taking some digital pictures along the way. The job was not technically complicated, but tedious and labor intensive. The whole job took about 12 hours, but the drains were plugged and that took a couple of hours to resolve since there was more to take apart to get to them. I looked at the instructions in the service manual for the Vette and they are not really very good, so unless you can find some directions someplace it might be a tough job. Instructions from someone who has done it with pictures would be a big help. If I had followed the Honda service manual, the whole top assembly and frame would have been off the car, and that was completely unnecessary.

Call and talk to Robbins Tops and find out from them what they think, if they do not believe it is doable they will refer you to an installer.

Thanks, think I will take the advise of bringing it to a Pro, glad yours worked out for you.
