Default Help C5 Tech & all...electronic AC multiple similiar failures

Hi Tech Gurus,

This is my second C5 with the duel zone electronic A/C & Heater.

Both cars have had the head unit fail. (The $400 part with the display and buttons that plugs in..ya know). For the Vert this is the fouth or fifth unit to be replaced. The coupe had three units installed.

All covered by warrenty...but what is causing the problem?

Here the failure description: The drivers side temperture **** wont adjust. When I try to change the setting, I wait until the display changes from the current temp setting to ambiant, then I can change the setting one degree (either hotter of colder). If I am patient enough, I can get to the setting I desire...taking about 20 seconds for each degree.

Also, once the electron head unit is turned on, I have difficulty turning it off. If I again play with the setting and change a degree, the unit will allow me to turn it off.

Rear windor defogger worked perfect, as do all the display screens images. Typically, I do not use the automatic function, but I have set it to auto a few times. I do utilize the easy enterance and seat/mirror/ tilt wheel (and again sometimes the electronic AC setting) memory on door button 1. Door button two is set for exit pushing the seat all the way back if the car is running.

One of our Gurus, Sam Lin suggested it might be that the unit is receiving too much heat from the tunnel and therefore failing. I forgot to heat protect it last time the unit was replaced.

The Vert goes to the dealer Tuesday Oct 30. They will go the extra mile when suggested or asked. Any insight from my co-members before tomorrow is very much apprieciated.

Call me too cold or too hot...chilly today, hot tomale :jester

The most common fault with the dual zone is sticking left side temp door actuators. Some times this can be corrected by simply disconnecting the battery, causing the A/C to recalibrate itself...

I had the same problem where I couldn't change the temp but 1 degree. The dealer fixed it. Here is what the paperwork states.

Do362 Control Assembly - Replace A/C
35 W98 1.00

1 12455521 F-Cover
1 9380441 Control
FC: 6F
Part#: 9380441
Count: 2

Check Out DO362 .7 A. .3 HRS 6f Chart
test Circuit to find and locate the heater
control CPU is open circuit. R/R and replace
heater control. Clear codes and retest circuit.

Mine works great now and I haven't had a problem since. Good Luck!!!! :seeya
