I just had new tires and rims installed, owner of tire shop said 35 all the way around. I had been using 30 all around and the old tires looked to wear evenly, the rears did seem to wear more in the center of the tires. I don't drive my vette hard and have 30,000 on it (99 vert).
32# cold, 35# hot. I like a little higher pressure for improved handling. If the pressure is too low the tire will tend to roll onto the edges and lift the tire face when cornering hard resulting in a sudden loss of traction. I hate it when that happens!

That's bizarre that the shop owner would recommend such a high pressure, especially if your rears were showing wear in the middle after running 30 psi.
My manual says 30 and that's what I run.
Oh surprise, tire guys and car guys disagree on tire pressure! I think that if nothing else we have all learned from the Ford/Firestone fiasco that car manufactures don’t always agree with the tire manufactures on tire model, design, application, and inflation pressure! The car manufacture wants a nice cushy ride and screw tire life and performance. The tire guys want performance, tire life, no tire failure and screw the ride. :smash:

If the centre of your tyres was more worn than the edges and the shop told you to put more air in them I think they're trying to say that they want to see you more often ! Did the owner look like this perchance :troll ?
I think you'd be better off dropping the rears down a pound or two, you should get better traction and tyre life. Whether you get more or less cornering grip is a separate issue that only you can tell though.
