Default Weird AC Problem

AC is acting up again. At first would only get hot air out of driver side. Took to shop, and they said it was the actuator. $200 in parts, $400 in labor. Still not quite fixed, filled up the A/C, all good.

Now I can use the A/C when I put it on the lowest setting (60), and not touch it again. If I try to increase the temp to 65, the old hot air/cold air problem comes back. Same if I try to use the auto temp feature - hot air, cold air. Dual zone is pretty worthless as well. What could be doing this? The whole digital HVAC unit was replaced a year or so ago….what else could it be? Are there some temp sensors that might be doing this?

There are temp sensors that tell the HVAC what to do. Sorry I really can't help you, might try taking it back and be firm but polite because the first round did not fix it.

The dual zone is worhless to me as well.

Theres a temp sensor in the dash right next to the ignition switch for the interior temp. t should pretty much match what the interior temp is when the system id operating for a good 10-min.

Theres a temp sensor under the front of the car on the passengers side of the radiator inlet duct. It's black about the size of a pen and sticks thought the bottom of the shroud. It should read pretty much what the outside is. If the road is really hot, it might read higher until you start driving.

There is a sun load sensor on the top of the dash on the passengers side of the defroster vent. (little black bubble looking thing)

All these things must work properly. The HVAC controller module is made by Delphi and the solder connections can be terrible. The best way to diagnosis the issue is to read the DTC codes and post them here. Try to clear the codes and see if it changes anything.

Thanks, disconnected the battery and cleared the codes. Will see if anything pops up again.
