Default Shifter Question

I just installed a B&M shifter in a freinds 02 Roadster and there was a small l-shaper rod/pin thay went from inside the shift housing up into a sloted bracket on the original (OEM) shifter. The new B&M shifter did not have any such bracket on it, so I had no choice but to leave it out. Can anyone let me know wjhat this pin/rod was/is for and if it is needed somehow.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Yep,, that throws a lot of people for a loop! Thats a shift linkage ZERO PIN. Your suppose to shift the transmission to neutral insert the pin into the forward end of the shifter housing nose and then tighten the coupling bolt between the shifter and the shift linkage rod. That insures that everything is in the true neutral position.

I just used clear RTV to glue it to the tunnel housing! If I ever need it, I know where its suppose to be!

Bill:
Thanks for the prompt reply! The new shifter works very well but I did install the solid mounting bushings and the owner doesn't like the added noise. So to keep her happy I will have to install some new rubber ones and at the same time I will check the "zero" pin adjustment. Boy that shifter sure tightens up the shift pattern, I thought my C6 shifted nice compared to the old OEM one in her C5, but hell I'm lookin at getting one for myself now!
