Re: Differance in Z06 Suspension vs regular C5??? (kewlbrz)
I called Paul at VB&P and he told me that the spring rates are around 760-800 lbs for the front and I think he told me 600 lbs for the rear (same as Z51). The sway bar in front is a little thicker than the Z51 but uses the same rear swaybar as the Z51. Then there is the 1" wider wheels front and rear and bigger non runflat tires that fit correctly on those wheels. All of it combined makes for an OK package. I went heavier spring rates, T1 Bars, Poly Bushings, and Heavy Duty Tie Rod Ends, Plus Bilsteins. The 02 Z06 has better valved shocks so that the car squats better on the launch. This probably is one of the contributing factors to the quicker times.
Re: Differance in Z06 Suspension vs regular C5??? (Shinobi's97)
In addition to improved handinlg, the Z06 has a considerably more comfortable ride than a Z51 C5 (comparing a 2001 C5 to a 2002 Z06). I suspect most of the difference in ride is a result of the tires (run flats vs non run flats). I found the Z51 C5 to be extremely harsh on bumps but quite comfortable otherwise. My wife almost immediately commented that the Z06 was way more comfortable than the C5.
Re: Differance in Z06 Suspension vs regular C5??? (Shinobi's97)
So besides the wheels & tires, the differences between Z51 and Z06 are:
front swaybar
shock valving
alignment specs (I've read that the only difference is the Z06 has more negative camber)
Is that everything? Has anyone w/ Z51 swapped Z06 shocks & front swaybar and re-aligned to Z06 specs? Just curious if it's much of an improvement handling wise.

I would have to disagree, It could be a matter of opinion. I've driven an 01 Z06 extensively and feel that the Z51 suspension felt better for street driving even with the harsher runflats. If on a smooth surface the runflat equipped Z51 is in my opinion more of a refined ride. The track is a different story, the Z06 is better. :)
