Default Speaking of Catch Cans.....

I saw some pictures on this Forum of a catch can with a copper colored wire mesh ball that catches some of the oil mist, anybody here know where a person around the Detroit area can find some??? It would be a great addition to my catch can,
Thank You very much.....

I'd check in the cleaning products aisle of your favorite grocery store or hardware store. It sounds like what you saw is simply a copper scouring pad product.
You could contact a machine shop. I'll bet you could find a (free) satisfactory substitute from a shop that does stainless steel. Extra coarse grade steel wool might even work if used in moderation.
The idea is to catch the oil mist and prevent it from escaping the can into the intake.

Brother Bob stainless mesh(steel wool pads) will work great, you can find it at the Home Depot or Lowes in the painting or cleaning products section

As an FYI, the defacto standard material for trapping oil aerosols is wound borosilicate glass. It will never rust or otherwise corrode as stainless steel or copper will. Coalescing filters have been used for ages to trap oil; for some reason, people thought they had a better idea by stuffing metalic fibers in an aluminum can.

Copper like version of steel wool. Not to be used so much as a filter, but to give the oil something to cling to not to be sucked back to the intake. I stuffed some in the bottom of my can along w/ a couple of other modifications w/ the hoses. Good luck!
