I have a 99FRC. When my car was a cam only I did the mod. At that time I had a 226/228 585/588 cut on a 112 cam. I had Ebay headers , no cats, a tune and a pully kit. I made 362HP through the stock mufflers on a DYnojet. One month later an (after I installed wheels that weighed 9lbs apiece more) I did the A&A exhaust mod. I gained nearly 11 rearwheel HP. I think it was like 372.5 or something.(same dyno with a retune) Anyway that was on the stock c5 exhaust and it cost me 60 bucks. I put a set of tips on it and its still on the car.
This is the "A&A" mod that's been around for at least eight or nine years that I know of. Andy, of A&A, in California, a forum sponsor, developed the mod and sold kits for several years. MidAmerica also mimiced Andy and jumped on the bandwagon with rheir own kit. It's a good cheap mod until you want something with more soul. As with any catback mod, you will gain little to nothing, except improved sound.

i just picked up my 01 vert from my buddies at triple A muffler in garland, tx. the mod cost me 75 bucks. i took some pics, and im still working on the vid.(and i was expecting more when i was driving) but once i got home and started it up outside the cabin, i was happy. i love the way it idles with my cam and since its my first exhuast mod, im glad i stayd away from the cut-out's(too many problems) but next month's mod's include longtubes and hi-flow cats for a more powerful sound.
sorry for the crappy photo.
Funny thing about this mod is, on my car with LG streets, when the car is cold it is louder. When the exhaust gets up to operating temps the raspiness at 2k rpms goes away
Here is my slightly more complicated (and time consuming) solution but the ability to switch back and forth (corked to uncorked) without leaving my drivers seat was worth all the effort.
Talk about a clean looking install. It looks like all of that was done on a Ti muffler, right?
In the last pic, the underside of your car looks spotless!
The "Y" pipe and basically everything except for stubs I cut an inch or so in front of the Ti Muffler (2.5 stub inlet and two smaller 1.875 stub outlets) is all fabricated from mild steel because I dont have access to the special welding equipment needed for Ti. The mild steel can be welded, grinded, and shaped much easier obviously. If you look close you can see the clamp arrangement I fabricated into the steel piping that goes around the Ti stub off the muffler inlet as well as goes around and clamps tightly around the over the axle pipe which is still Ti but obviously shortened to make room for the mild steel assembly in the pic.
Sounds confusing but easier to understand crawling under the car.

PS....I had just freshened the underside rear of my car after spending close to two weeks fabbing up the new exhaust.
