By now someone must have installed short interconnection pipe sections between the main exhaust pipes and the near by muffler outlet pipe. Sounds like a good inexpensive mod.!
I would like to hear how it turned out. Thanks
Not too many people have heard because it's been non stop raining here in FW - those that have have liked it. A hole saw might've worked on stainless, but we didn't have any luck with it on the Ti. Overall, I'm very pleased.
I did it to me AE and love the outcome. It is not louder inside the car until you push the loud pedal. It is more crisp outside and has more of a roar when that same pedal is depressed.
why not just cut your mufflers off and run straight pipe?? Seems like the same concept.
The amount of "non-muffled" exhaust that comes out at idle or light throttle is small, hense a quieter sound pressure level. BUT...when you hit it more "non-muffled" exhaust is coming straight out and increases the sound level and tone.
If you delete the cans all together it will be REALLY loud and the DRONE will drive you crazy.
There's more back pressure with this mod than there is running straightpipes. You can still feel exhaust, although not as much, coming out of the tips that aren't bypassed. So, I'd say no, you don't have to worry about damaging the motor.
iam not expert on cars or any thing but a friend of mine who is very knowledgeble and he was saying something or another about warping your values due to lack of back pressure? i dont know like i said im some what of a neb. too lol but i was very interested in this mod and have be'n interested for sometime.
i did the by-pass mod when i got my car,if you like it loud you'll be dissapointed. i lost the mufflers and went with straight pipes about a year ago and love the sound
Mine is plenty loud with only a Vararam, Kooks LTs and HF cats with xpipe. It will be very nice with FAST 90, AFR heads and high 220s cam!

Free advice from recent mod experience. I originally installed my BB Quad-Tip Bullets when I only had Vararam, and xpipe and it was plenty loud. When I added LT headers it got much louder. When I installed AFR heads, G5X3 cam and FAST intake last December, it sounded so sweet but it was so damned loud that the LEOs started to notice me and I knew I had to have some sort of muffler system to stay out of trouble. This setup is going to work very nicely for me.

My 99 c5 has the same mod that Allegro shows in his pic; It was on the car when I bought it. It's definitely louder then stock, sounds good under accel, but some audible gurgling/popping under decel. I think its a good cost effective mod for slightly lower back pressure and better sound. Only real drawback is potential for poor weld quality, and eventual corrosion causing need for replacement of whole thing.

Why would they bother? They don't bother the harley guys. They can make as much racket as they want. One of 'em lives near me and it's enough to wake the dead and the cops won't do a thing. He's had it like that for at least 8 years. But then the cops are scared of harley guys aren't they?
