I brought my 2000 FRc into the shop to have a new clutch put in (the slave failed). When they were test driving it they broke one of the rear sway bar end links, After they got that fixed they said it was overheating and needed a new thermostat. They changed out the thermostat and then it wouldn't run. They said the battery was shot and that was caused by the alternator and that caused the car to not run. Not run = starts for half a second and shuts down. After changing the battery and alternator it now shows pull key and wait. I've already had the column lock work done by GM. The car is now at the dealer and they've reflashed the computer and it still won't run. The 1st shop says it's because I've changed the motor out to a crate LS6. I used all the 00 sensors and the computer handled it fine. The dealere says it's because I changed out the instrument panel. I've put 3-4K miles on it since then, plus it was in when they did the steering column service. Now for the help and advice; what is causing it to not run and second what liability does the original shop have?
I am a bit confused but it still sounds like the steering column is locked, either install the CLB or get the actuator to retract. My 02 Z06 did this at the dealer and they replaced the actuator in order to get it going again. The actuator is the locking device in the column. But in regard the recalls through GM fail and I would not trust them, CLB is the way to go.
GM pulled the physical lock and installed the K (?) harness last year. To me it seems like the fuel shut off is kicking in. The GM tech said he reflashed the computer again
Are you sure, the lock remains with the 'K' harness just the lock plate is removed and the relays go bad in the harness so reflashing is probably not going to work.
