had gps head unit installed and they must have hit the sensor or turned the wheel while something was pressing against the sensor.

Whats it doing?? Where was the GPS unit installed?

You have a "YAW Rate" sensor that is in the center console right near the HVAC unit. If messed with, it can throw all kinds of steering related codes.

Im not sure if this helps or not, but its worth a look at.

The only way to mess up the steering position sensor is to either disconnect the harness from it or disconnect the column from the rack and rotate the wheel.

What codes are you seeing?

ever since we took my rack out of car I have been getting active handling warming up. could this be because rack was turned when hooked backup to column. anyone know because it was fine till we pulled rack out?

I can see it now... "I need a power feed for this thing"...or "Where am I gonna ground this thing?"

Find out what Code's are showing, use the DIC or a scan tool to find out. Usually if the steering wheel was disconnected it will rotate 360 deg before it is reattached. (Ask me how I know?)

Use the search button and the solution is there, probably 30+ different responses in the last year. Yours is a very common question, if it is the C1283? code then you can do trial and error--disconnect steering wheel at the engine, rotate steering wheel 360 deg. to right, reconnect and drive. If the code is not thrown and the AH warning does not appear, you were lucky and found the solution. If it is still showing, then disconnect and rotate left 720 deg. (2 turns), and reconnect.

You can also check and find the solution with a Tech2 and it will show voltage and what effect a turn will have. Also, you can disconnect the harness at the firewall--takes a very nimble person to twist and turn--measure the voltage of the middle light blue wire. It should read 2.5V, if it is .25V disconnect and turn wheel to left as I recall, it 4.8V, turn wheel to the right. Using Search, you will find this in detail.

My buddy hooked up snap-on scanner and about.29 voltage and he didn't right down codes. go figure but will check code. I did search but didn't really find much on voltage but 2.50 is center. was going to try moving at bottom one turn but my friend said something about clock spring dont do it. So from what u are say I was probably right in thinking my buddy put my connection at column on wrong!
