After a hard day on the track...take the top off and cruise home.....
I agree, it's a shame you can't get all in one. We finally went for the coupe because the hatchback just made the car a bit more practical -- we can fit our chocolate lab in there and have a weekend getaway, we can fit everything in the trunk after an impromptu shopping spree etc. I sure do miss the fun of the vert, and the performance of the Z, but you get to drive it a lot more when you have a hatchback.
Maybe you should look at a c6 Z06 hatchback. I look at them long and hard every time I see one.....
More like take off the sun roof and stick it in the trunk. But I bet you can haul more groceries. Vert has the same extra frame stiffeners as the Z.
The vert doesn't have any extra frame stiffeners, nor does the Z. The roof in the FRC adds some stiffness, but I think the handling difference is insignificant as all C5's are very stiff.
As mentioned above, choose your favorite roofline and go from there if you're modding.

So you think they can just take the same frame as in the coupe and chop off the top and it won't flex more?
