Remember,
Top end power is one thing but having useable power is another. I'd much rather have a smaller all around cam then one that just makes good peak end power. A smaller cam that makes more low end will be a better for daily driving duties as well. I've had big cams and smaller cams in my cars and over all, I was happier with the smaller cams. I still made good top end power just not as much as a much bigger cam.

Stop and go traffic is no problem, even in heat. For noise its loud. With straight pipes and stingers both cars make their fair share of noise. Water pump and milage I'm unsure of, don't want to give you the wrong info. Pump gas, yes. 25 mph is good, rides well at lower speeds. As for long trips, thats a judgement call. Depends on how you feel about the stingers or straight pipes. Rear for the TA is not stock, Z06 w/ hardned output shafts. Suspension for Z06 stock, TA ovbiously has a long list. Yes the ET is great for the 346, stock bottom end too. Both are great drivers with a lot of track time. Both with skinnies up front. Slicks for the TA, ET Street for the Z06. Weight for the TA is I believe 3300, no weight reduction to the Z06 aside from remvoving passenger seat.

For the times they are running out of a HC stock bottom end 346 the cars behave very nicely on the road. They impressed me enough to go with a Cartek setup
Hi nickolbag,

Thank you taking time to answer my questions...very informative.
No doubt in my mind regarding the high level of performance Cartek achieves at the track since years that they have strong duplicatable packages!!!

Also they are making those huge dyno numbers since years on stock LS6 heads, as others are doing, it is the reason why I mention different choices in a previous post here...and that I went another route more fitting my needs...

I just doubt that the ZO6 was equipped with a 3:42 rear end, my guess is a 3:90!!!
Can you confirm when you have the opportunity please?

Congratulation on your Cartek setup, enjoy your power and drive safe!!!

Oops. Sorry. 4.56s for the TA and 4.10s for the Z06. My bad.

Proper combinations are also key. Talk to a lot of people before making your final decision. If there was one recipe for all we would all have the same setup. My intent was to maximize usable power under 6,000 RPM because my car spends very little time there and when its there every police officer within a mile knows it

I am now planning "yet another mod" to further boost my mid-range power. Of course I also have to admit, I really like messing with the motor too

As far as the usable power and torque questions go, please check some of the dynographs of these TFS combos from the Vette Doctors and Vengeance. 427rwtq from a 346ci motor by CraZee is fantastic. And if remember his dyno posting correctly, the power and tq curves were excellent. And since these are small port heads your drivability and throttle response is great. Looking at the numbers posted by Miami993c297 the ETP heads are making the power as well. 455rwtq? Wow.

Default Cartek H/C Packages

Cartek does the heads on site and uses "small" cams to make good power. Check out their site.

They just spec'ed out a cam for my 402/L92 combo. The last cam was spec'ed out by someone else and didn't make the grade.

Thanks guys for the plug.

We tailor the combos to the needs of the client. If you need a road race, drag race, daily driver, or any combination of the above we build the package to your needs.

We not only make the numbers on the dyno, but we back them up at the track. The proof is in the pudding, just ask those using our packages.

Shoot me a PM or give us a call, we'd love to help you out.
