YOU CAN MAKE IT EASIER JUST TAKES A BIT OF TIME.
TAKE OFF ALL THE RUBBER HOSES AIR INJ ON EXHAUST DRIVERS SIDE
TAKE OFF THE BATTERY,THE BAT COMPARTMENT PLASTIC SIDE COVER
DIP STICK,FUEL RAIL COVERS.SOUND CRAZY BUT BETTER IN THE LONG RUN.GET YOURSELF A GOOD RATCHET,S/PLUG SOCKET.SOME EXTENTIONS SMALL 1" 2" ETC .I USE A SMALL LENTH OFF CHROME TUBE (HOME DEPOT) SLIDE IT OVER THE RATCHET HANDEL TO CRACK
LOSSE THE PLUG.USE A TORQUE WRENCH TO DO BACK UP ,I USE A SMALL 3/8th DRIVE T/WRENCH.I ALSO PUT A BIT OFF ANTI SIEZE
GREASE ON THE PLUG THREAD. NITRO UK

It doesn't take too much time to remove the components above and the extra clearance makes access to the plugs much easier. You may also want to pull the coil packs - there are just a few 10mm bolts on each bracket and off they come.

Its a pretty easy mainyenance procedure.

I can get to mine from the top with no problems. It's tough with a hot engine.

the essential tools:

1/4" socket wrench
5/8" spark plug deep socket
3" extension
double swivel attachment (for plug #7)

with these, you can swap all the plugs in about a half hour easily from the top. Somtimes it's easier to place the Socket on the extension and place that on the plug before attaching the wrench.

Don't forget anti seize and a torque wrench. Both are much cheaper than pulling a head to re thread a plug hole. David

That double knuckle tool is the bombdigidie. I used it on my buddies car and it makes the job a total cakewalk. Well worth the $50.

 it must take you 3 hours to change the plugs removing all of that stuff

I dont remove any of that stuff. I just stick my spark plug socket with extension and ratchet and go. Ive never had a problem reaching any of them

service manual says 15 ft*lbs for plugs installed in new heads & 11 ft*lbs for replacing plugs. seems kinda low torque..but i guess they know better!!

Just be careful with the swivel attachment. You wont be able to torque correctly anymore. Just a normal extension wont matter, but with that thing, you are adding a bit of a lever to the torque wrench. I have the S&K version, with is a bit cheaper. Got it off Amazon for $27. Just do a search for "3/8 In Drive Double Swivel Spark Plug Socket - 5/8 In"
More useful in getting the plugs out than in though.

Nitro uk - i think i just drooled a little....

Assuming the spark plug threads don't get stripped, are there any hazards of overtorquing the plugs?
