I see that some members use one product others another.. based on experiece ... is there a certain type of filter better than others at 105k miles?
Online opinions say that
" NAPA 1515 Gold This filter is a Wix filter with the two-piece filter cartridge. As with the Wix filter, the metal bypass valve seats on the metal cartridge end cap with no gasket of any kind. Some small amount of oil probably leaks through there. It also has the tougher paper filter media of the Wix. " Whats with that?
It means the anti-drainback valve will leak oil back into the pan but only when the filter is mounted upside down or sideways which is the case for many ricemobiles, n/a for an LS motor.

well thats good to hear thanks now...is there a particular filter that I should be using or is strickly brand preference
The Amsoil has the best single pass efficiency at 15 microns, which according to an SAE paper results in a 40% reduction in wear. The K&N is close but not really in the same category. If you do oil analysis, you can easily see the difference between the Amsoil and any of the others. One other huge benefit of the Amsoil is it's ability to filter better for a longer period of time.
When the other filters are passing wear promoting particles, the Amsoil is still filtering.
In order of preference:
1. Amsoil EaO32 - By far the best filter available today.
2. K&N

Reason: Additional information
The K&N flows and filters better than most (as per bobistheoilguy's website). It comes with a welded-on nut that really comes in handy when removing the filter after a year. I highly recommend it.
You can get both the AMSOIL Ea Oil Filter (C5 part EAO32), and the WIX Filter (C5 part 51042) from AMSOIL via the info in my sig or the link to the left, either of which will benefit the forum.
