Im planning on some mods here shortly and im wondering a few things. Mostly, if i only do a cat-back exhaust, is that pointless? I was just looking at the prices and sound clips and i really like the corsa Indy's. but at 700 (used) just for the cat back and then a decent used headers/xpipe at least running 625 or more, thats alot of money to sink at once, especially considering i wanted to also do a cam, tune, and clutch. maybe varam (used). so should I go just headers + X pipe? or just cat back? because i dont think i can swing BOTH at the same time, right now.
thanks. its not "loud" that i want. I love how the indys make the car scream at WOT but tame otherwise. but i will follow your advice and go headers and xpipe with cats and worry about the corsa when money becomes availible again. I was also considering a cam. most people change the heads when they do this. is that necessary to get your moneys worth on the cam? i want something mild and streetable. my power goal is timid at a mere 400-450 HP.

You do not need to change the heads, but it will be needed if you want to hit 450 rwhp. You should be able to break 400 rwhp with all the bolt ons and a decent sized cam.
My opinion is that stock heads/springs were not designed to accomodate a cam for any length of time. If doing a cam, heads or at least springs just makes sense while you're in there.
