Default C5Z06 Jacking Procedure

Can someone give me a concise write up as to how to jack up the C5 and get it up on 4 jack stands. I have done searches, but haven't found a concise write up, and I've found very differing opinions. Pictures would help greatly.

Thanks. Jason

I would recommend buying the aluminum rails that bolt on the frame side bottoms. When these rails are installed the jack and jack stands can be placed anywhere along the sides and save a lot of time when lifting the car as well as moving the support points as far out as possible for stability.

Who manufactures the aluminum rails and/or where do you buy them?

Thanks.

Do a search on this. I know that there was a write up on it, and that is how I learned to do my car. You have to drive over some 2x6's about 2 feet long first, with the front tires. This will raise the front end a little so you can get a floor jack under the front air dam. Then, with a low profile floor jack ( $99 with 3 ton stands at Pep Boys) you take 2 2x4's about 2 feet long, and place them against the front frame member under the engine. This will allow you to lift the front end without damaging the undercarriage, so you can place the jack stands on either end of the 2x4's, and remove the jack. Then you can lift the rear of the car. I don't have photos, but I know there is a thread about this.

I did the same thing, sometimes I would place my ramps under the front wheels and jack stands on the rear. I now have a 4 post lift that I bought last year for the cost of a big screen TV, one of the best investments I have made.
