Default convertible top care

What do I need to do to care for my convertible top? Cleaning products, water proofing...etc. I just got my 99' last week and when I washed it for the first time I noticed the top seemed to absorb water. No leaks, but I expected the water to bead on the top. Any help would be great....thanks

A product called Ragg Top. I buy mine from the National Corvette Museum although you can get it elsewhere. I am doing mine now. Once you put it on, the top will bead like crazy for a long time.

Ragg Top is a great product. It will not harm your tan top, but will clean it as good as new. Once cleaned and DRIED, the second step of applying the protectant will bring your tan top (or any top) back to life. When you order the product, specify cloth top. The key to a great finish and water beads is allowing the top to completely dry. If you apply the protectant before the top is dry, you will suffer the dreaded white spots. Just don't be in a hurry once you wash the top. I washed mine one day and applied the protectant the next day ofter baking in the sun.

This product is recommended by the top manufacturer. Great stuff, there is no reason to use any other product. Autogeek sells this product. They are a Forum sponsor. David

It will not change the color, but don't panic when you first apply. The top will get darker and will lighten as it dries. The first time I did it the weather was very damp, it took a few days to dry and I thought I had totally screwed up my new car. All is well and the top being six years old still looks like new and beads water like a duck

Raggtopp
You might find it locally at a BMW or MErcedes dealer.

It is available thru autogeek.

If you want a locally available product that is alomost as good.
Aerospcae 303 convertible top cleaner and follow up with their convertible top protectant. It is widely available at most national autoparts chains.
