Since I live in CA, i guess I have to buy shorites. What do you guys recommend? I was looking a pace setters because of the price. I wasn't aware that you where not allowed to move the stock cats in an OBD2 car. I always thought that as long as you had cats in the car after after the headers, it was OK. Thats why I'm not a lawyer. O well I'm in the market for some shorties so any info will help. Thanks.
I follow these topics closely because shorties would interest me as well (I don't want long tubes).
In the past, members have suggested either BBK or B&B, so you might do a search using those keywords or "shorty headers". I know one of them is CARB approved, maybe both.
i had B&B in my 2000 and they worked great for me. easy install, fit right in. no plug wire issues. no problems with DEQ testing here. ( the air tubes are just like the originals ) i would recommend that you have them jet hotted though. that keeps the engine bay much, much cooler. and i hear adds a little more power because of the heat issue. ( really it works better )
very well made product too.
here is a link to the ones i had and sold not too long ago. it has some pics so you can see how well these hold up over time and were their air tubes are mounted. i really would consider the jett hotting too. i didnt do it to mine. ( I was too anxious to install them to wait the week to get it done ) they are stainless steele so not a problem if not done. but from what everyone has told me it does increase pwr a little doing it and keeps it way cooler in the engine bay http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1740542
****the ones in the link are sold so it is just so you can see the pics of them ****
I bought the ones listed above by Ron
I had some B&B's on my 2001 C5 a couple years ago, and they were better performance-wise than the stock manifolds, but not like long tubes. The B&B's are great quality, that's why I bought them.
Might I suggest you also take a look at JBA headers. I have not used them, yet, but have been real close to buying a set. They are CARB exempt and I have some friends who use JBA products on their mustangs and say they are high quality

Good luck on your choice
what did ya think of that great packaging i did on those
i used all my bubble wrap i had then 5 newspapers had to be crumpled up because the box i picked out to use was way too big. you probably wondered if i was just trying to clean out my recycle bin huh??

You need a set with a CARB#, not just any shorties. You might want to ask around about a Smog place that is visually impaired and go with a set of long tubes. LT's aren't that much more $ and really make a difference. Just keep an eye out for a used set. Good luck
