Default Need advice with Window wiper problem

The wipers on my 97 have started going on and off by them self, and just stoping anywhere, and will not return home or at rest.
Sometimes they come on and run for a few minutes then just stop anywhere.
I have now pulled the fuse to stop them all together.
Is this a switch, ground, or relay problem? Nothing else seems to be wrong. Only the wipers.
I just purchased this car with 46000 mi on it and know next to nothing about these cars yet.
I have had 5 older vettes over the years
Any help or advice will be much appreciated.
Bob

Anyone think this may be a grounding problem?

Mine does the same thing. I have checked all grounds. From my understanding it's the wiper motor itself, I just haven't replaced it yet.

If you dont know what an udder is,,,,,,,then it for sure could be your issue!

There are THREE of them in this area. Clean them out and flush out the cavity:

If there full of trash, it will flood out the control module and cause that issue.

I hardly drive my car in the rain...was in a friggen monsoon last year, had the issue you describe...pulled the wiper fuse to stop them & cleaned out my udders, still had the issue, I put off replacing the motor (lazy) and was going to eventually do so.....waited about 4 months, decided to order the motor but before doing so I put the fuse in just to ck if it was still an issue...and guess what?? No issue...evidently it dried out enough to work OK...its been aOK for almost 6 months now....

Here's the write up I did when I replaced my wiper motor. You can see the udders from the top view.

Default Thanks Bill, Bville, and others:

Thanks for the info and great pictures.
They [the udders] were full of mud etc. I think I'll wate a few days and see if the motor dries out before I replace it.
That link to replacment will Really come in handy.
Thanks Again

Default Changed Motor...... Thank You

Thanks for all the help and fine details on changing the wiper motor.
The Utters where the cause of the motor failure.
Purchased the motor at Auto Zone. $38.00 and core.
Following Bville-Bud's instructions, I changed the motor with no problems and works fine. Thanks much BB.
Cleaned out the utters and motor well.
Snipped the tip off the Utters to help drain well.
All is working great!
Thanks again Guys!!!
