Default Cooling Question

Hello, I have a curious problem, I recently purchased my 1st. vette 01
really like it. I bought a wolf mini mask to protect the nose , when I installed it and went for a ride my coolant temp rose about 30 degrees and the exterior temp. ga. said it was 98 to 100 degrees outside when it was about 78. The car usually runs about 195 to 225 without the bra
but with it on at 65mph it was 230 degrees. I did make sure it was installed correctly and all the vent holes lined up. any advice would be helpfull
thanks very much

Check the air dam under the front of the car. If it is missing or damaged it will affect the flow of cooling air to the radiator. If that appears to be working correctly, it sounds like the min-bra is the problem and you'll have to stop using it. The Outside Air Temp sensor is mounted in the front of the car and it is indicating that the bra is definately affecting air flow into the front of the car.

I'd leave the bra off until you get the airdam replaced.

The OAT is located (depending on MY of the car) either at the forward top end of the frame rail on the passenger side, or attached to the lower radiator support on the passenger side. It is "sheltered" in there to keep it from direct sunlight, but when the car is moving (with an airdam) it is located to read the temp of the air flowing past the front of the car into the radiator intake area.
