non syntetic in c5
NON syntetic in the c5 engine, and drove about 200 miles that way.
is this as bad as i fear or am i overdoing it?
The only significant difference between a synthetic and a "natural" oil occurs at either very low or very high engine oil temperatures.
A synthetic causes less wear and tear when starting and running a VERY cold engine (freezing temps and lower) as it has less contaminants in it. At normal engine temps both oils perform the same. At very high temperatures (oil temp of 280 to 300 and more) the synthetic again performs better because it has less contaminants.
Since our engines can generate high oil temps on a race track, Chevy uses a synthetic. If you are doing "normal" street driving I'd (as Bugs Bunny would say) "unlax" and take care of it at your next oil change. If you are really worried, change it now, but you have done no harm to the engine.
