I have a 98 C5, and the gas gage seems to be stuck right around 3/5 of a tank. It stays there till it runs out. It will go higher sometimes, but not below it.
I know the dealer sells the whole pump with the sending unit for a nice chunk of change. I also had one dealer tell me I could get just the sending unit for about 40 bucks, but it was on back order. I've already tried the Tectron...
I've also heard that GM put out a kit to fix this problem.
Who knows what????
Thank you very much!!!

Have you been able to narrow down which sending unit is bad, left or right?
If not your going to have to drain the tanks and pop them out, you can use an ohmmeter to make sure the resistance is nice and smooth throughout the floats arc. I can't remember what the readings were but it's very easy to spot the problem unit with a meter.
BTW - I wasn't aware that you could buy just the sending unit, I thought you had to buy the whole assembly.

I'm not really sure which side it is, but having justmessed with the drivers side pump, I thought it might have been that one...
Mine did that a couple times. I ran the Seafoam through a couple tanks and it went away. I'm sure it's lurking there to do it again someday though. I try and run techron through every few tanks. Seems to keep it at bay.
