My 2000 coupe just recently began to start hard. By start hard I mean that it takes several seconds of cranking before it starts. Sometimes I think I may not start. Anyone have any ideas why?

theres a check valve in the back, inline with main fuel feed... could be stuck. you need to check fuel pressure. see if it holds pressure after you turn key off. If the pressure falls fast, most likely your problem.

where in the back is this check valve? I sometimes have this problem too but I have an aftermarket cam. It only might happen when car is sitting for afew days, because If I shut it and start it right after driving it for a while it starts right up.
Actually if the car sits over night it starts up quicker in the morning, but still not as quick as it should. If I have been driving for a while and stop somewhere, when i come back to the car, it cranks over for 4 or 5 seconds before it starts.

It's part of the rear "fuel feed pipe" coming off the L/R fuel tank and is not available separately.
As tomdcarguy said, do a fuel pressure check. Attach the gauge to the fitting on the driver's side fuel fuel rail under the hood (at the front). Pressure should read 58-61psi after turning on the key with engine stopped. If it builds up then slowly starts to bleed back down, you'll need to replace the rear fuel feed pipe as mentioned above.
HTH,
Robert
BTW, the fuel pressure should read somewhere close to the above mentioned numbers with the engine running.
anyone have any pics of were this valve is?what is involved in changing it?i am having this same problem on my new vette.will the techron thing fix this as i am having fuel gauge problems to?does this valve go bad or just clog thanks
