Default Service Ride Control

Trying to figure out what would cause this to come up when you start the car. The car drives like normal and has its regular suspension controls. It is a 2003 Coupe.

Give me some ideas guys, I'm stumped...

Mike have you or has someone in the past replaced the BCM with a used one or has the BCM gotten wet or programmed it with a TECH II??

The BCM is where the RPO code for the F45/F55 RTD option is set. If someone messed with the BCM or did the wrong steps with a TECH II, they could have set the option for Selective Ride Control by accident and that will give you that error. See if you have a NO COMMS message DTC in Real Time Dampening (RTD). If so, that most likely your issue.

I'm not sure if someone has messed with it, I was asking just because we just did a clutch and started the car with this error reading. The customer did not have that problem before hand, all the sensors, etc are all plugged in and the battery was of course disconnected prior to working on the vehicle...

It's easy to fool the computer regarding this option. Does the customer have the F45, or not? When I had it on my C5, if I hit the brakes while going over something like railroad tracks, I would get the message. But after a few subsequent on/offs it goes away. Also, sometimes braking while in a rearend slide will cause the service ABS or traction control warning, but nothing is wrong. It goes away...you are just fooling the computer...it could not be designed to completely handle all the wild and wooly inputs it gets in everyday driving.

Try checking the connector/switch on the center console since you had the center console out to do the cluch. Also if the switch is in between two setting it will trigger a code. Pull the codes and is what is set.

That's why I ditched all the F45 hardware and went with Z06 shocks and swaybars...just look at it as an opportunity to upgrade your suspension and ride quality...way better than any of the 3 settings GM programed in on the F45. I would never go back.
