I turned the key on my 97 tonight and the DIC indicted "reduced engine power". When I started the car it was missing/running rough. I turned the car off and restarted and it was okay. It did set a check engine light. I put my mini code scanner on it and it regisitered a code 1516.

Anyone had this experience before?

thanks
Doug

If its a P1516 the manual says its a Command vs Actual Throttle Plate performance.

Did you have your foot on the pedal or something when you cranked it? I'd dump it and see if it resets. the book calls for mostly wiring being the issue. Its also possible according to the manual that water entered the Throttle Actuator....had you hosed your engine down??

Default You guys are awesome!

Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and experience. I just replaced my battery and cleaned the area with the acid neutralizer stuff and washed it down. That may have triggered the malfunction and associated code. I am leaving on a trip tomorrow San Antonio Tx to Ruidoso NM and return... I will keep my fingers crossed.

thanks again!

There is a GM bulletin that calls for a TAC module replacement when you have a rough run on start up and a DTC P1516 stored with no other codes.
