You see how old this thread is now though?? I was merely exploring options last year. This one came back from the dead.

Dust from EBC is less corrosive because there is ZERO steel fibre in these pads, they are an Aramid fiber base. Blending with Aramids such as Twaron and Kevlar means you dont use the steel fibre as a binding fiber AND as a filler, steel fiber pads contain up to 50% steel fiber which is basically like using a scratch pad to brake on. There is also a lot less room to be inventive in BETWEEN the fibers when using steel fibre as there is when using Aramids. With Aramids you need to only use about 6% fibre by weight just to get the snowballing effect when pressing the pads so you can then add all sorts of goods stuff in the mix, More room for good stuff, more room for design variation.

EBC is one a very few making with Aramid fibers.

I am not going to mention what other good stuff we have in yellow but the secret is in the resin blending that holds the pad together and doesnt cause gassing, we have spent a lot of time on this and the BP resins are better than anything we have found.

Dust with any EBC pad is easy to remove, a lot easier than steel fibre based pad dust.

Please note though I did NOT says Yellows were a clean pad, in fact theyre our dustiest pad because of what I said earlier about their ability to scrub or keep the rotor honest and remove those nasty intermittent tar spots that come when use a pad with the wrong blend of or cheap resins.

Rueben is getting pads for a meeting on 23rd on his Z06 and will be one of the first comments we see, he is on the 8 pad set of course which has had a few reported overheat issues according to comments back to me but I aint gonna go into that as I hope the system will run cooler with EBC Yellowstuff pads or at least they will take the heat better than other products.

Talking rotors, a good quality non grooved rotor is always good, someone said elsewhere on this forum that slots do NOTHING well they are ALMOST right and people who advertise a slotted rotor and increasing brake strength need to come meet me and I will hand them $1000 if they can show me that a slotted rotor with no other changes stops cars faster, simple physics says it cant but what a slotted rotor CAN DO and its biggest advantage is........

KEEP THE PADS FLAT AND SMOOTH and prevent record grooving so you get a nice flat pad surface thoughout pad life. The wider slots on our GD series DOES also help cooling and thats why almost EVERY Police force in the UK uses EBC yellow and EBC GD series rotors in their chase cars and they tried everyones stuff. We are the only Company to have passed the infamous MET TEST named after the London Metropolitan Police test which is more severe than any FMVSS or BEEP or European R90 transport authority brake safety test.

We are just finishing up getting TUV on our sport rotors and know what they WOULD NOT pass these sport rotors on their own as they said the slots "downgraded the brake", what they DID AGREE to approve and we now have the largest number of German TUV test approvals ( the holy grail ABE certificates) is for the EBC HIGH FRICTION PAD AND ROTOR COMBINATION. So you drop the brake effect (whilst improving cooling and flat pad wear) with the slots in the rotor and bring it way back UP with a high friction pad and bingo, a good combo brake.

Hope this all helps guys

dust is a price you have to pay for superior brakes... as long as I can clean it off, I dont mind.
