here are a few photos... I bought this off a forum member and he has been in contact with me and seems willing to work with me up to this point... I have never seen one of these clutches and had some initial concerns that I would like others to weigh in on.... here is photos of clutch media thickness as well as the flywheel ..... not sure if this is normal thickness..

Default Clutch set...

Paul,

Yes I will work with you my reputation will stand on this one! This clutch set was actually used less than 1,500 miles, I am sending the trip odo pic to you this evening...

I do not know how else to prove it, there is a man on LS-1 tech that pulled the same set-up out of his F-Boday with 10,000 MILES and a ton of drag strip passes..

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=708027

clutch works perfect, only reason he posted this up is because 1) Very few people know what a clutch set that has been used looks lie and 2) his tranny needed re-built!

Posted up that the car was pulling the front wheels right before he pulled it Anyone want to argue?

Install the clutch set Paul, and if it slips I will pay for the labor

Coby

Coby.. thanks as you can see above I did not call you out on this one and i do thank you for standing up and backing this up...
maybe this is a lesson for me to learn that this is normal for this clutch... I am sure that i would not be the only one that would think this way not knowing these clutches...

In your link there is a statement about the flywheel that was made by Jarrod of Textralia, I would say if you are concerned to either e-mail the photo's to the e-mail address on the Textralia web site or e-mail them the link to this thread and get their input. Another option is to join the Australian forums and re-post there as Peter does respond on that forum directly. Not having seen any used z-grip flywheels I'm not sure I can comment on the condition, but in your shoes I would likely be concerned as well. I just installed a new Tex x-grip and it is a ton of work so perhaps feedback from an expert at Textralia would allay any concerns. Good luck

That is an excellent picture.

I personally don't like all the cracks in the surface of the flywheel.

Let us know what Tex has to say.

There are a couple of other used Tex's for sale, so if Tex gives a thumbs up it will help them as well since theirs may look similar once removed.

Default how my clutch was working when removed

When i pulled my clutch, it was working perfectly, except it was dragging a little bit. I didnt pull it because of the clutch. (just because I was getting my tranny built, and installing a shatterproof bellhousing with a motorplate behind the flywheel.) Nor did I know then that it was even dragging.

It was working perfectly, the car was my daily driver. And it ran 7.0 in the 1/8 just before with 6500rpm clutch dumps on 28" ET Drags. No chatter or anything. With my hydraulic problems fixed, it probably couldve gone a while longer. The only thing i didnt like, was that it made a bit of a squeak noise when leaving from a stop sometimes.

Make sure your hydraulics are working correctly, and you should be good to go

Hope this helps.
