automatic oil level
Hello, how difficult is it to check for the oil level in the automatic transmission. The owners manual suggests that you take it to the dealership.Also , assuming that the original oil is still in the unit, what colour should it be

If you have access to a lift its no problem at all. The car needs to be level with the transmission oil temperature less then 90 degrees and the parking brake on. Start the car letting it idle in each gear for a short time then finally put it in park and while its still idling carefully remove the fill bolt on the side of the transmission pan and if the level is correct ATF should be dripping out of the fill hole if it is not add fluid until it is then button it up. Your old original GM fluid will probably a dark red depending on the mileage.
