Default Best Replacement Shocks for C5?

My Sting Ray rides better than my C5 when it comes to anything other than glass-smooth roads. I know, I know already about run-flat tires being a less smooth ride than switching to regular tires... but I don't want to do the carrying around a whole tire repair kit to go with non-run-flat tires.
Don't think the shocks on my '98 have ever been replaced. (I've had it since 2004) Only has 36K miles on it but I think I need to "spring" for new shocks.
Eckler's catalog shows 6 different shocks for C5s from $85 ea. Bilsteins to $450 ea. Koni Double Adjustables!
In between are: $120-140 ea. Edelbrock IAS's, $220 ea. black QA1s, $245 ea. Koni Single Adjustables, and $350 each bright alum.QA1's. ???

I want a good smooth ride over most roads (local and highway) with their pot holes &/or bumps here and there. But I don't want mushy/floaty. And I want solid cornering and passing without swaying side-to-side.

The Koni Single Adjustables at $245 ea. "sound like" the ticket, as their description matches just what I want... but $1000 for shocks is a lot of change and had better be darn well worth it. Anything less than a Selective Ride Control ride would seriously tick me off.

So does anyone have any good recommendations on what to buy without overspending??

Thanks one and all....

I just got a set of C5 Z06 shocks. Haven't put them on yet.
Also the C6 Z06 shocks fit too and are cheap.
Something to look in to. Search this forum.

C6 Z06. I've driven a few C5's with even the lighter springs, and like the ride.

Second the 04 Z06 shocks! Got them on my 2000 C5, they are stiff in the corners and when stopping, but very nice for daily driving also. Great shock, but a PIA to compress by hand to install, very stiff!

I am really thinking of installing these on my 00 Coupe. The price makes it a no brainer. How difficult is it for a DIYer, and does anyone have a link with pics that details the install?
