Flat side out
or

Is there a difference and what could happen if it went in wrong?
Thanks,

Do you have the old one for comparison? Do you have a photo of the one in question?

Here's one we installed in a buddy's '01 coupe.
The stock one before removal. The radiused end is exposed so the driveshaft end can slide in without resistance.

I'm the first vote and I voted chamfered or radiused side out for ease of assembly with the driveshaft assy, just as Patches mentioned.
Do I win???

I was looking at other threads and noticed some said flat side out...so i was confused a little. Also on Dope's write up for drivetrain removal it also states flat side out.

I can argue for either orientation. The stock setup we found on my buddy's car made it easier to slide the shaft in if it's slightly out of alignment, which is often the case. The opposite positioning might allow easier extraction if you think about how the puller fingers might get a better grip on the radius. Here's what our's looked like after yanking the stock bearing out.

Wonder how easy it is to remove later if the chamfered side faces forward? I am thinking not too easy.
