I can hear the fans when they come on now
The p-rods were checked without the p-rod checker because it hasn't arrived yet. I will use it when it comes in just to see how close Iam to having the correct p-rods
Again a big THANKS to you and everyone who helped me on this project.

Sleeper,

What was the exact thicness on the shims you used?

I was thinking of checking my swipe pattern and seeing if it is off as well and if I'll need to shim up my HS RR's or also go to the YT's!

Let me know when you can!

Thanks,Matt

Hey Matt! If you go to the Valley GTG @ Whole Foods in Porter Ranch/Northridge on Sept. 8th, I'll let you listen to mine. I went with the lightweight YT's.

Hi Matt,
I think they are .045 ..the swip pattern is in the center.
I'm quieter now, but I'm waiting for the p-rod checker to come in to see exactly what lenght p-rods I need.

Received my p-rod checker this AM.
Went out and took the measurment needed. What a surprise.
The p-rod checker comes 6.800 and it took me 12 turns to have it snug w/o pressing the lifter or the rocker 12x.050= 0.6+6.800=7.4+.075=7.475. So I also need the 7.500 p-rods

I lucked up and the shop that did some work on my car has a set of 7.500 and he is willing to swap me for the 7.425s that I have. So I'll be up and running this weekend
Thanks VN for all the help..

I've been told that the LS7s are coming out with an engine "cap" that is insulated to hide the noise of the injectors and noise coming from the intake. So that tells you that GM is aware of the noise and is doing something about it.

That was the length we went to with the Yella Terras. BE sure to check the p.rods when you get them for the center oiling hole in that the size is a std. size for Mopars and some Mopars don't need the hole in the p.rods so there are both pieces out there. If you are using Comp cams P.rods the part # 7957-16 is the one for LSX engines.

Okay...my last ditch effort in making the sewing machine sound as close to stock as could be.
I got the p-rod checker and after the check it was determined I needed 7.475 or 7.500 push rods.
So here is the sound of the 7.500 push rods. This as close as it will get to stock sounding.
The injectors can be heard..this was taken inside my garage and this location may add to the sound also.

Yes...I'm going to get use to the slightly louder than stock sound..I'll be taking it on a run today to see how things are. I do like the performance of the cam, it has a lope
What size cam are you running?

What size p-rods did your checker say to go with? Yes I only hear the injectors through the intake. I might get one of those engine covers to see what that would do, but I'm worried about the heat it will hold in over the coils and the fuel rails.

They say its a"baby" cam at 220/224 with a 112 lsa but the lift is high .597/.591 and i'm getting 2hp short of 400 so I can't complain.

How did the test run go?

Your lift is higher than my lift..224/224 .567/.567 LSA114.

I'm going to have mine re-dyno'd after I install a CAI box.
I was at your numbers with the A4.
The run went great..took it by the shop that had did the work and they said (also my neighbor) didn't hear it when I pulled up.
No sound inside the car only hear the headers when next to other cars at a light.
Cam has a nice lope to it, the Tis sound off when you floor it.
So I guess that part is done and I'm satisfied with the outcome
