I have an 01 Z06 and the factory keyless entry/trunk release system keeps losing it's synchronization. I can hold lock/unlock buttons down for 7 to 10 seconds as prescribed in my service manuals and it will start working and then 10 to 20 minutes later it's lost sync again. I have replaced the battery in the keypad also. What do I need to check and how? Or do I need to look into replacement of the system? Also, I don't want to put an aftermarket system on but I don't want to invest a fortune replacing the factory setup. Thanks for any help.
As strange as it might sound,,,,what condition is your 12 VDC main battery in???
How old is it and is it fully charged. If you battery is weak, old, or under charged; the starter (when you crank the car ) will cause the B+ (12 VDC system voltage) to drop below the operating threshold of the RFA module and the FOBs will loose sync. One of the ways to see if that is happening is to read the DTC codes stored and see if you have a bunch of U series DTC's
Read and Post your codes.
Heres how:
This is the absolute best C5 Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) web site!!!
Go to “technical data base” and then to “Corvette ECM Computer Codes”. Then select your year car. Read the instructions and then scroll down to the "READ MORE" window to view the code definitions.\
Another cause of loss of sync could be a bad module ground. The ground for that module is near the battery on top of the frame. Its a stud type ground.
Thanks. I will try that and post my results. My battery seems to be fine with no dragging on startup, but I will check all possibilities. Thanks again.
