Sounds like you need to replace the oil pressure sensor. I did mine about 4 months ago. If you do a search you will find a step by step. It is kind of a pain because you have to pull the intake. good luck

Make sure you clean all the oil off the connector (if any is on) and only torque the new one to 15 ft-lbs. These two things are thought to cause early second failures of the sensor.

Mine just went out in the morning yesterday it lasted for 14 months. Oh well, need to get it replaced soon, but I might as well buy something cool to install while I'm doing it...

I repalced mine a couple of months ago. I did the part in teh sticky where you cut a hole in the cowl and replace it that way. Should make chaging it pretty easy now. Covered the hole in black duct tape. That was alot easier than pulling the manifold. Although if I would have ha some extra money I would have went ahead and bout a FAST 90/90 combo and installed it at the same time.

Default Oil pressure sending unit

I just bought a 01 Z06 and guess what? Yep, the oil pressure gauge maxed out the first day I had it. I read the thread about cutting the hole in the cowling. Not my favorite thing to do at this point. I may just try using extensions and wobblies and fish the darn thing out and replace it. Looks like a pain but I'm sure it can be done. If not, get the hole saw out! I'll let you know how it goes.

As long as your in there, you might want to consider this relocation kit. I'm not a fan of the cowl drilling mod to replace the sensor.

OPSU can be replaced without pulling the intake off..taking it out is easy, re-install takes some patience...

1' 1/16th oil pressure socket,

universal and a 12' 3/8 drive extension

coat hanger with a little hook at the end, gets the connector off

1 piece of coax cable with the connector end, fits into the end of the new sender, taped on with masking tape, makes install easier. I used masking tape because it's easy to get off, you can use duct tape, but don't get too crazy..you cant leave any on the sender...

long offset hemostats will help re-install connector

takes between 15 min and an hour and a half, depending how lucky you are...

do not drop it! you probably wont get it back...i tied a piece of light string on it, just in case...

here is a video showing it being done:

This beats pulling the intake off...removing the PCV hose gives you more room to work...

i did mine the same way mark did, i used a piece of fuel line to slide over the sensor and steer it into the block. really not that hard with the proper socket. 3/8 drive gives you more room.

Actually, i did use a piece of fuel line to begin with, but the coax was much more flexible and gave me more control. I had the threads started within 2 minutes of changing to it...I have big hands, and couldn't get them in there...I did use a 3/8 drive though...I was ready to remove the intake if i couldn't pull it off...

Of all the place's they could have put that sending unit!...i wonder about GM engineer's sometimes...

I just put a piece of duct tape on the inside of the socket.

I got a little carried away trying to get to the OPS . . .

But, hey, it was a snap to change once I got to it!

Nice!...just glue it back together, so you can just pry it apart next time!

PS...To bad about the C7R's in the 'United Sports Car Series Racing' at VIR this weekend...They were kicking butt this season until they hobbled them with added weight, smaller restricter and less down-force...they made them the slowest cars in GTLM...overcompensation by the officials
