Hi, The key fobs on my '97 coupe stopped working and the batteries were change with no result. I was told by a friend that there is a controler in the car that takes care of these functions, does anyone know it's location and how to troble shoot it.
The receiver is in the rear compartment over the left wheel well. I would reprogram the fobs first before replacing the receiver. I had a problem with my remotes and found a part, I think it was a crystal, where one solder joint had detached. I re-soldered it and now they work. First one remote quit working then the other a short time later.
If your tire pressures are still being displayed on the DIC the receiver is working. It receives signals from the 4 TPS sensors and also remotes. A drop in battery voltage can also cause the fobs to be UNLEARNED. Try doing the relearn procedure if holding both lock and unlock doesn't work after about 15 seconds. BIGHANK
If it beeps to reprogram and only partially works or forgets again after that, try the resoldering. I had that issue. Resoldered the contacts (loose, comp. popped off the pc board when i touched it) and it works like new!

Can you explain better what this (these) components are, and where they are located? A picture would be GREAT !
If you pop it apart, at the top right of the remote there's a rectangular component with 4 solder points on it. That was loose when I put pressure on it. Touched it up and works like new!
