A few days ago I heard the machine gun sound from the passenger headlight motor, and I went to drive this morning and the battery was damn near dead. Is my motor toast at this point, because I was getting ready to order the kit to replace the gear and I would rather fix this in one shot. My guess is is that the motor is drawing current and draining the battery, what do you say?
I wouldn't have thought the motor would be killing the battery and it may just be a coincidence. Even with stripped gears the motor runs on for 10 secs max and then shuts off. You probably have another problem. How old is the battery? The OEMs are reknowned for early failures.

Thanks for the reply, I had the battery tested today and it only measured 10Volts, so it is definitely bad. May be a coincidence with the headlight motor, but I will replace the battery and monitor the situation. I bought the car 2 yrs ago with an OEM battery, but I have no idea how old it is. Do you or anyone know how to tell how old the battery is via S/N of the battery? It is the 7yr battery, and in the desert, batteries generally don't last past 3yrs.
