I have a whistling sound when accelerating that sounds like it comes from the back of the car. It is not in the stereo and I have had two different rears on the car, since I upgraded to 3.42 from 2.73. Just curious if anyone has this whistling sound. Right now I just turn up the radio to fix it but figured I would post in case someone knows what it could be. I haven't bothered to really check into this at all. Not sure if it does it with only reving the engine or if I have to be moving. I will do more investigation on my end but if anyone has had this and solved it let me know.

Maybe a clogged vent tube on tranny or rear-end ? Also might be rear wheel bearings.
I would rev motor and see if it replicates noise in a stopped position if not your problem is rotational and you can the start to narrow it down.
Sound problems are hard to diagnose due to the accustics of the body's hollowness that makes it sound like it is coming from one place when it is coming from another.
I always found it easier sometimes to have someone else drive the car and I could listen to it as it goes by.
Are you sure it is not a gear whine or roar sound, Most rear ends do not whistle. I discovered I had a whistle sound one day when i was working on my vert. Had it on jackstands reved the engine up with the door open and heard a whistle at about 4000 Rpms. while i was in the car it sound like it was coming from the rear behind the driver side fuel tank. So i got out and let my wife rev it up, and was able to pinpoint to the front instead of the rear. turns out to be coming from the modified airbox.
Others have posted about whistling noise from car and turned out to be in the front and something to do with the engine.

i have that too. but i can only hear it @ 2300 RPM
So I now know the whistle is related to the engine speed not the wheels. While driving I heard the whistling and then put the car in neutral and rev the motor and the whistle changes with the speed of the motor. Now I need to see if it whistles in park when reving the motor. It sounds like it is coming from the back but I am sure it must be under the hood. I'll post once I get a chance to have someone rev the motor while I have the hood opened.
