When scolling through the DIC options I get one that says 'approach lights (on/off)' . It seems to do absolutly nothing. I thought it was for the DRL's but it doesn't affect them. It may be a dumb question, but does anybody know what it turns on/off?

Reason: spelling
Approach Lights
Press the OPTIONS button until APPROACH LIGHTS
appears on the display, then use the RESET buttto n
page through the following choices:
0 APPROACH LIGHTS ON
0 APPROACH LIGHTS OFF
If you choose APPROACH LIGHTS ON the fog lamps,
front turn signal, rear back-up and courteslaym ps will
come on for 30 seconds as you approachth e vehicle
with the key fob transmitter. This will occur only when
it is dark outside.
APPROACH LIGHTS OFF turns off this option.
Uhhhh ... it turns your Approach Lights On or OFF .....
Approach Lights are your fog lamps (if equipped) front turn signal lamps, rear back-up lamps and courtesy lamps will come on for 30 seconds after you UNLOCK the car using the remote fob. They will only come on if it is dark outside ...
See your owner's manual .... page 2-101 in my 2001 manual.
Approach lights are one of those little things that mean a lot. They are great if you park somewhere dark because they light up a path for you to find/get back to your car. Also since my garage does not have an automatic light attached to the rolling curtain automatic garage door, the approach lights light up the garage without needing to leave an AC light on. Very handy.
One day I'm going to figure out how to rewire my Honda Hybrid so it works like the Vette.
In order to see what Approach lights do you need to be outside the car and in the dark......
You can turn off the DRLs. I believe there are a couple of ways. I know what is to pull the fuse for the DRLs. If you do a search you will find some posts on how to turn them off.
I never could get the jumper wires to work right. I pulled apart the relays, and put a small piece of matchbook cover in-between the contacts in each one. Approach lights still work, no codes, and NO DRLs!
wearing out the key cylinders AINT CHEAP USE UR FOB

I had bad fobs and was using the key to unlock the car (can lock it with the LOCK button on the door). I realized that removing the door panel and replacing the switch was not going to be FUN.
Get a new or used fob and USE IT. BIGHANK
