Default TPM battery

I read some of the TPM posts. My RR tire on my 2000 is sending a 25psi signal to the DIC with 30psi actual. Sounds like a battery; can some one tell me what kind of battery and the best place to purchase (assuming it is somthing odd).

Thanks,
emj

The battery is not meant to be user replaceable, although many people have had success doing it. Check out this thread. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...9&page=1&pp=20

One thing you might try which MIGHT work.........I had the same scenario about a year ago and filled the specific tire with something like 41 lbs. of air. Drive around for 20 min. or so and see if the dic changes. Go home and let the air out down to 29 cold(which is what I run) It may or may not straighten that one sensor out...........

You might re-train all of your sensors. Have you had your tires rotated? Maybe the tire pressure your seeing is not from the tire you think it is reading. I have replaced the batteries before on mine and for several others forum members so it can be done, IF the battery is the problem. I found that the battery just dies, not give bad reading for a while. Good luck with it.....

with Bakersfield

First try a retrain. If that doesn't work your TPS battery is on its last legs. Normally they just die and read XXX but maybe you have just a little juice left?

You'll need to reorder a new one. Its a tire off job to replace it. Dont forget there are different type sensors for the older vettes pre 99.

with DeeGee, the model years 97 to 2000 take the larger style of sensor (and more expensive) and the 2001 to 2004 take the cheaper smaller ones. When my tire guy took my tires off to replace my sensors, he removed the tire entirely. I asked him why he was doing it the hard way and he had this "deer in the head lights" look and said, "yea, right, I don't need to remove it, just break the bead on the valve stem side." We had a good laugh at it. Be sure to get them rebalanced and then retrain them again.

My front left is doing the same. It's reading 25 psi, and I checked it and all the tires are at 30psi...I'm curious to see how it works out for you...

Just one thing to add, if you decide to replace the battery. The Renata CR2477 battery that is the O.E. battery has a higher operating temperature spec. than the Panasonic CR2477. The problem I encountered, was that I couldn't find a Renata battery that had the proper leads. The Panasonic BR2477A/VA is rated for higher operating temps than either of the others and has leads that are closest to the O.E. battery. I've used the CR2477 batteries, and they work fine for me, but the BR series has a better operating temperature range. -40 to +125 C vs -30 to +60 C. As mentioned before, make sure the potting material is not conductive in the uncured and cured state. I used an electrical grade silicone, RTV 160, but it's not readily available.
